Lismore
is
the regional centre of the Northern Rivers area of New
South Wales, with an urban population of around 27,000
people.
The Lismore Local Government Area extends south to Coraki, west to
Bentley, north to Lillian Rock, east to Clunes and Wollongbar and has a
population of around 45,000.
The NSW
State Emergency
Service is a voluntary
organisation
that
assists the community in times of natural disasters, including storms
and floods. The Lismore City Unit belongs to the Richmond-Tweed Region
of the NSW SES which covers north-eastern New South Wales between the
Richmond
River and the Queensland Border and comprises thirteen Units in
total. In addition to servicing the Lismore local government
area
in times of natural disaster, in Lismore we are also accredited by the State
Rescue
Board as a Road Crash Rescue Unit.

This week is National SES Week and everyone can show their support for their local volunteers by wearing something orange to work this wednesday which is Wear Orange to Work Day!
